As I cry my eyes out over a sappy cheesy 90’s romantic movie I happen to have on the tele, where do I start…
Anyone who has travelled overseas knows of the million and one different immunisations you must have to travel safely. Tetanus, Diphtheria, Typhoid, Yellow Fever, Rabies and the list goes on… Well I have now officially joined that crew. It blows my mind that we have to have so many injections just to see other parts of the world, injecting ourselves with all sort of viruses just to be immune to what we may have to face, but it is what it is and I can’t change that.
So after two appointments at Dr Deb The Travel Doctor’s rooms in Brisbane my arms are well red, sore and I feel like a big pin cushion. Not to mention how fragile and wussy I’m feeling. I think that its great that the doctor’s here sit down with you and go through throughly what you will need to do and give helpful instructions on how to make it all happen. I have one more visit then I am done, well kinda….. I still have the Malaria tablets to endure…
I do need to mention the costs involved in all this… In a nutshell it’s not cheap!! My first appointment costs came to $414.00 AUD and the second visit was $150.00 AUD and the third appointment I still have the pleasure of going to yet. I am hoping that I can get some money back from my private health insurance company and I did get a rebate from Medicare for the first visit of an amount of $70.00 AUD which doesn’t seem like much but it all counts and I’m not complaining.
I know that the bigger picture is that all these needles and tablets are for the most amazing trip of a lifetime, the trip that we have been planning and working our arse off for the last five years and for that I am happy to sit there and be a pin cushion while the wonderful and professional nurses prick and prod me with needles for this is truly going to be an awesome experience I just can’t wait for. Plus it’s David’s turn next… Hee Hee Hee 😉
